Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL) Security and Emergency Services Division has an opening for an Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Coordinator to join the team.

In this exciting role, you will provide expertise in emergency management, coordinating incident response and supporting preparedness and resiliency efforts across operations and research divisions. The position involves addressing complex issues, collaborating with subject matter experts, and ensuring readiness goals are met. Additionally, the coordinator will support emergency management initiatives to ensure compliance with DOE directives, including DOE Order 151.1E.

The Emergency Response Coordinator 3 uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and Lab policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. The Emergency Response Coordinator 4 has wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and Lab objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways

What You Will Do, ERO Coordinator 3:

  • Developing the Lab’s Emergency Response Organizations processes, procedures, training and credentialing program of an Incident Management Team, and oversee/coordinate the CIMG/EOC operations.
  • Develop and provide oversight for the Lab’s In-house volunteer emergency response team to include supporting training and drills.
  • Researching, and collaborating with technical specialists to develop all hazard response plans/annexes.
  • Manage emergency supply containers, records and inventory lists to track quantities and expiration dates, and develop distribution strategies.
  • Assists in the compliance with DOE Order 151.1E and other directives pertaining to emergency management requirements.
  • Serve as a member of exercise design teams as a means to validate the efficacy of the Lab’s emergency response program and associated plans.

In Addition to Above, ERO Coordinator 4:

  • Performs the same duties as above; however, works with minimal supervision and is expected to lead emergency response efforts with a higher degree of autonomy.

What is Required, ERO Coordinator 3:

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in continuity or emergency management field.
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
  • Relevant coursework, training, or certification focused on business continuity or continuity of operations
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 1600, DOE Order 150.1B, DOE O 151.1E, the National Response Framework (NRF), National Incident Management System (NIMS), California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), and the Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a high paced, high pressure environment.
  • Ability to develop, prepare and implement continuity policy, plans, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment to develop and deliver training.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct drills and exercises, including scenario development.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct assurance activities including assessments, issues management, and evaluations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and partner at all levels, including in a team atmosphere.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient with use of personal computers and applicable software applications. Demonstrated ability to use of Windows and/or MacOS.

In Addition to Above, ERO Coordinator 4:

  • A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in continuity or emergency management field.
  • Graduate coursework may be desirable

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional Continuity Practitioner or Master Continuity Practitioner
  • Certified Business Continuity Practitioner
  • Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) Training
  • FEMA or other relevant Incident Command Systems (ICS) training

Notes:

  • This is a full-time career appointment (monthly paid), exempt from overtime pay.
  • This position will be hired at a level commensurate with the business needs and the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
  • The Emergency Response Coordinator 3 position is expected to pay $115,000 - $132,000 annually, which fits into the full range of $103,536 - $174,708 for the job classification of SE1.3.
  • The Emergency Response Coordinator 4 position is expected to pay $138,700, - $157,300 annually, which fits into the full range of $123,336 - $208,116 for the job classification of SE1.4.
  • It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience.
